Fireworks in Summer in Tokyo

In Tokyo, as well as other regions in Japan, the fireworks is the most popular
event in summer. During the period between the end of July and the end of
August, you can find the fireworks events in many places in Tokyo and in
other Kanto region. The firworks usually starts at around 7:00pm
and it countinues for one and half-two hours. The following are the major fireworks being provided every year. You will make sure the date and time before you attend the fireworks, as its schedule may be changed.

Sports Clubs in Japan
There are a lot of sports clubs in Japan, especially in urban areas.
They provide facilities/equipments for various sports and fitness
options. Group exercise can be obtained at sports clubs/fitness
clubs. Some sports clubs offer food and beverage.
It is easy to get membership of the sports clubs/fitness clubs.
You will be asked to show your ID card(passport, driver's license
card or health insurance card).
Some sports clubs may require admission charges, but usually there
is no charge for admission. Some clubs ask for the payment on
admission procedures(3000-5000yen).
Monthly charges for the use of the club differ by clubs.
Membership allowing the use of club for the whole time may cost you
13000-15000yen per month. Night time membership may cost you
5000-9000yen.
Usually, sports clubs open 7:00-23:00.

Public Sports Centers/Facilities
Many local governments in Japan have sports facilities for their
residents and visitors. Fees for the use of such facilities are
generally very cheap and usual fees are 4-500 yen per day for
the local residents and workers who have working place in the
local area and 700-1000 yen for visitors living(working) outside
the area. To use such public sports facilities, you may be asked,
at the time of admission, to show your ID card.
Money savers have to ask the availability of public sports
centers at your local area. It is necessary to make reservation
for the use of the facility, like tennis court, in advance.

SUMO
Sumo is the national sport of Japan. The Sumo wreslers (Rikishi)
weighing over 130 kg. in average offer tournaments as specified
below. The tournament matches start at 10:00am and end at
6:00pm everyday during two-week tournament.
Grand champion sumo wrestler " Yokozuna" appears after 5:30pm.

During the period of the Grand Tournaments, NHK(Semi public
broadcasting organization) broadcasts the matches on TV.
In Tokyo, NHK is the channel 1, broadcasting during
3:00pm-6:00pm.
To see the low ranked wrestlers' matches, you can enjoy them
with NHK's digital/ satelite broadcasting channels.
As for the results of the matches, you can see them with
sports news on TV, newspapers, on the Internet ( news
/ sports news pages).
