Way of having party at Izakaya
Izakaya/Japanese bar
It is popular in Japan as a place for after-work drinking.
They offer both foods and drinks.
Among the various foods served at Izakaya, most popular one is Yakitori
(skewed and grilled chicken) and another one is Nikujaga (meat and potato stew).
It is a good place to experience Japanese foods.
Naturally, their liquor list includes Sake.
Izakaya business is competitive and the prices for foods and drinks are reasonable at
any Izakaya.
There are chain izakaya bars, such as Watami, Tsubohachi, Tengu, Yoronotaki, Shirokiya,
Uotami, Shoya.
Of course there a lot of independent Izakaya Bars.
Japanese workers prefer to have party at Izakaya and they choose a relish set costing
3000-5000 yen per person.
Together with the relish set, it is suggested to take a free-drink set ("all-you-can-drink" )
costing 1200-1500yen and with it you can drink the designated drinks ( including beer,
wine, Shochyu spirits, Oolong tea) for two hours at 1200,1500 or 2000 yen per person.
It is said as ¡ÈFree Drink¡Éor"Nomi-Houdai" in Japanese. It does not mean free of charge.
If you have heavy drinkers among the party member, the free-drink
"all-you-can-drink" set is the must.
When booking the party at Izakaya, you have to tell the time and date, number of the
party members, relish course and free-drink set, and name and phone number of your
party manager.
Of course, you can enjoy individual relish and drinks. The costs for the relish are
300-600 yen for each. Drinks are costing at around 400-600 yen per glass/bottle(beer).
When you arrive at the booked Izakaya, the manager shows you to the table or individual
room. Many Izakaya Bars have individual room for parties, so if you wish to have party there,
you ask for the individual room at the time of booking. During the party seasons,
namely, year-end party in December, farewell party in March, you should make the booking
for individual room in advance, at least one month before the party date.
All of your orders will be kept on a paper slip(bill) and you will pay at the casher with the bill.
Some Izakaya Bars may give their customers free-drink coupons when making payment for
the bill.
You can use it when you revisit the Izakaya Bar.
