Road on the left of the river is the present Meiji-dori Avenue.
Hiroo area in Edo period was the picnic site for the citizens
living in downtown of Edo capital.
In this area, there was a hunting ground for Shogun.
Arisuganomiya Park was the official residence of the
Nanbu-Han, a Daimyo(feudal lord) in Tohoku District
(northern part of Honsyu Main Island of Japan).
The Nanbu-Han was an "outside" Daimyo, therefore
they were given this site for their official residence
where the place was far from the Edo Castle, central part
of Edo capital. Shogun, Tokugawa administration,
ordered to move the temples to this area, Hiroo/Azabu
area, from other places in Edo capital, so even
today there are a lot of temples in this area.
